What is GoChapaa?

GoChapaa is a crypto wallet that enables users to buy crypto using Kenya Shillings i.e. from Mpesa directly without going through an intermediary like in P2P.

GoChapaa is a good alternative for to use to buy USDT or available Crypto from Mpesa without going through the hurdle of Binance P2P which:

1. Risk of loss of money if the merchant fails to pay or there is a delay in notifying
2. Restrictions for new beginners where some merchants don’t want to deal with them.
3. Difficult process for some new beginners who may not be tech-savvy. </aside>

1. How to create an account on GoChapaa

To sign up

• Go to:
  1. ***Download their app*** in the Google Play store and sign up
  2. or go to GoChapaa website (https://gochapaa.io) and click on "Sign Up."
• Fill in your details, including your valid mobile number and email address.
• Do KYC verification before funding the account, there are 2 methods:
  1. Click Profile icon → Select KYC on the vertical menu
  2. Select Withdraw → KYC dialog box will pop up

2. How to fund your wallet

A. To deposit from Mpesa to GoChapaa (To Buy Crypto with Mpesa - First load KES wallet then Buy)

• Log in and go to Deposit on the homepage
• In the ‘Select Coin To Deposit’ select KES and select Proceed
• Enter the Amount to Deposit and your Phone Number (i.e. Your mpesa mobile number that will be deducted).
• Mpesa STK Push will pop up through which you will enter your PIN to authorize a deduction.
• Available balances will appear under the tab Wallet that is below.

At the time of this writeup i.e. on 18th March 2025, the available digital value that you can load into the GoChapaa wallet are:

1. Fiat - KES (Kenya Shilling)
2. Crypto - USDT (Tether USD), BTC (Bitcoin), ETH (Ethereum), ADA (Cardano) </aside>

Buy Crypto with Mpesa Flow: Mpesa → Deposit to (Step 2A) → KES Wallet → Buy (Step 3 below) → USDT

B. To deposit USDT from external wallet to GoChapaa (To load USDT to GoChapaa in order to convert to KES and withdraw to Mpesa)

• Log in and select Deposit on the homepage
• In the ‘Select Crypto Coin’ select USDT and select Proceed
• Note the Network
• Copy the USDT address
• In the External Platform, where you want to send USDT FROM:
  • Tap on Withdraw / Send
  • Search for USDT
  • Paste the USDT address you copied from GoChapaa as the receiving address
  • Select the appropriate network to send with (i.e. ERC20 for USDT)
  • Enter the Amount to withdraw
  • Select Withdraw

Load USDT and withdraw to Mpesa Flow: USDT (External Wallet) → Deposit to (Step 2B) → USDT (GoChapaa Wallet) → Sell (Step 4 below) → KES wallet → Withdraw → Mpesa

3. How to Buy a Crypto of your choice

To Buy Crypto using KES

• Go to ‘Buy & Sell’ tab located at the bottom
• Select Buy
• In the Cryptocurrency field , Select a Coin to Buy e.g. USDT
• Enter the Amount in Amount in Cryptocurrency (NB: Amount to be deducted from KES wallet being payment currency)
• Click on Buy to purchase

To Sell Crypto and get KES

Crypto → Sell → KES Wallet

5. How to withdraw your coins

• In the External Platform, where you want to send USDT TO:
• Log in to GoChapaa and select Deposit on the homepage
• In the ‘Select Coin To Deposit’ select USDT and select Proceed
• Paste the USDT address in the ‘Enter the withdrawal address’ field
• Enter the Amount to withdraw
• Select Proceed
